What is the writing component?

In the Reading Comprehension and Written Expression component, alongside the reading questions, you must produce two written texts. These are short everyday texts — messages, e-mails, notes — that test your ability to communicate in writing in basic Portuguese.

Writing tips

Respect the word count

The short text asks for 25–35 words and the long one for 60–80. Writing significantly less or more can cost you points.

Answer what is asked

Read the instruction carefully. If you're asked to arrange a meeting, include date, time and place — don't write about something else.

Use simple sentences

At A2 level, short, clear sentences are better than complex ones with errors. Subject + verb + complement.

Review before submitting

Check gender agreement (o/a), verb conjugation (eu faço, ele faz) and accents (é, ã, ção).
